Classic red velvet cupcakes with a rich flavor and cream cheese frosting.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (115 g) butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup (150 g) sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C.
  2. Mix flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
  5. Mix in food coloring, buttermilk, and vinegar.
  6. Alternate adding dry ingredients.
  7. Fill cupcake liners and bake 18–20 minutes until done.
  8. Cool before frosting.

Notes

  • For keto version, replace flour with almond flour and sugar with erythritol.
  • For low-calorie, reduce sugar or use a sugar substitute.
