  • 8 cups water
  • 1 lb smoked turkey bacon, chopped
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 bay leaf

Instructions

  1. Rinse the beans and soak them overnight in water.
  2. Drain the beans and place them in a large pot with 8 cups of water.
  3. Add the chopped turkey bacon, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and bay leaf.
  4. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  5. Remove the bay leaf and serve hot.

Notes

  • Soaking the beans overnight reduces cooking time.
