- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 4 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- For the butter sauce: 1 cup granulated sugar, 1/2 cup unsalted butter, 1/4 cup water, 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease and flour a bundt pan.
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
- Add softened butter, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- While the cake bakes, prepare the butter sauce by melting sugar, butter, and water in a saucepan. Stir in vanilla.
- Once the cake is done, poke holes in it with a skewer and pour the warm butter sauce over it.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 30 minutes before transferring to a serving plate.
