Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch square baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Add molasses and egg, mixing well.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture, alternating with hot water.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let cool before serving.
