Ingredients

- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cups hot water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Mix flour, 1/2 cup brown sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- Add milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth.
- Pour batter into a greased baking dish.
- Sprinkle 3/4 cup brown sugar evenly over the batter.
- Pour hot water over the top. Do not stir.
- Bake for 45 minutes or until the top is golden and the sauce is bubbling.
- Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
- Do not stir after adding hot water.
- Best served immediately.
- Store leftovers in the fridge.
