  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp cloves
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • For frosting: ½ cup butter, 3 cups powdered sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, ½ tsp nutmeg, 2 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×13-inch pan.
  2. Brown butter in a saucepan until golden. Let cool.
  3. Mix sugar, eggs, pumpkin, and vanilla into browned butter.
  4. Whisk dry ingredients in a separate bowl.
  5. Alternately add dry ingredients and milk to wet mixture.
  6. Pour batter into pan and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  7. Cool cake completely before frosting.
  8. For frosting, beat butter, sugar, spices, and milk until smooth.
  9. Spread frosting over cooled cake.
